USA. Corn harvesting has been delayed due to rain

With a reference to Platts, UkrAgroConsult informs that as of October 19, 2014, according to the USDA, there was 31% of the corn crop collected in the United States; which is 7.7 p. p. more than a week earlier.

Up to date, the index of five-year average harvesting rate of corn in the United States is 53%. In the U.S. the process of corn harvesting is delayed due to precipitation. Iowa and Nebraska, America’s largest corn producers, collected 19% and 28% of the planned corn harvest, respectively.

Despite the rain and delays in harvesting, corn condition in the United States is good: USDA estimates 74% of the crop as good and great.
