News list

For six weeks in 2016 Ukrainian companies have completely exhausted the quota for deliveries to EU maize, grape and apple juices, honey and chilled chicken.

Director General of the Ukrainian club of agrarian business Taras Vysotsky announced this. According to him, without fees in the EU was delivered 400 thousand tons of corn, 10,000 tons juice, 5,000 tons of natural honey, 16,000 tons of chilled chicken, or 100% of annual quotas. At present, also substantially used quota for barley (90% of 225 000 tons from 250 000), the barley cereals and flour (63%, 3.9 thousand tons from 7000), sugar (62%, 12.4 thousand of 20.07 thousand), wheat (55%, 519,000 tons from 950 000), oats (45%, 1.8 thousand tons from 4 million), processed tomatoes (44%, 4.4 thousand tons from 10 thousand). The current breakthrough can be considered to obtain duty-free quotas for the supply of 5,000 tons of flour.

Demand large, small quota

As the analyst of consulting company “ProAgro” Yaroslav Levitsky, the Europeans quickly enough redeem Ukrainian products, which have already tried and as a confident. This, in particular cereals, honey, juices, chicken. Only during the first week of this year were purchased duty-free 400,000 tons of corn, he said, and recalled that in 2015 had a similar situation. “From the grain last year were unable to close the only quota for barley. Demand was — there was no proposal, because its production declined in Ukraine. Europeans bought without quota 206000 tons of barley to 250,000 provided, ”- said the expert.

In 2015 due to lack of demand for frozen chicken quota was used by only 25%. Whereas for chilled chicken — 100%. Recently Kosyuk Jury, President of MHP, the largest producer of poultry in Ukraine in an interview complained catastrophically small quota for fresh chicken meat to the EU, despite the presence there of a large market, and expressed readiness to invest in the purchase of poultry farms in Europe.

In the queue for output

Unused 2015 quotas were dairy products, mutton, beef, pork, starch, mushrooms, cigarettes, eggs. The reasons are different. “For some products there is no technical regulations, some — not enough high quality, some produce little and for the domestic market and some have not yet found a buyer — said Taras Vysotsky. — As you know, last year 10 dairy enterprises have passed the whole admission procedure to the European market, check and received all permits for export operations. According to my information, some of them even tried in January to supply products. Nevertheless, so far, there is no evidence, or they do it. As you know, in the European market a lot of competition, the giant dairy factory and competitive price. Therefore, Ukrainian producers will be hard to find their niche and buyer. In addition, on dairy quotas are small. Europeans are not interested to buy unknown Ukrainian products duty free and with duty — and even more so, ”- said the expert.
