In 2014, every fourth ton of cargo handled in the ports of Ukraine, is grain
According to the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine, results of 2014 demonstrate that share of grain cargos amounted to 23.6% from the total volume of transshipments in Ukrainian ports; that is, every fourth ton of cargo handled in the ports was grain. Such statement was made on March 4, by Irina Ozip, chief of Information Services of IA «APK-Inform», at the «Middle East Grain Congress-2015» conference held in Egypt.
The expert has also noted that in general, the four ports (Uzhnyi, Mykolayiv, Odesa and Illchevsky) accounted for 81.4% of the total volume of grain transshipments. In 2014, there were 12 Ukrainian ports that transshipped grain.
In addition, the expert noted that sea transportation is the main type of transportation that ensures export of grain from Ukraine.
«In particular, ships delivered 98.5% of exported wheat that were delivered during July- December, 2014/15 MY, about 99.8% of exported barley and 97.8% of exported corn,» — said the expert.
