There are favorable weather conditions in Ukraine in order to conduct field work
In Ukraine, under favorable weather conditions that established in the past few days, fall field works have speeded up. Thus, farmers have already harvested more than 41 million tons of grain. This is 13% more than a year ago. Seeding process has intensified, too. Now the warm weather and plenty of moisture in the soil help to ensure a good germination and formation of the future harvest of winter crops. This was announced by the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food- Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.

This is 13% more than a year ago. Seeding process has intensified, too. Now the warm weather and plenty of moisture in the soil help to ensure a good germination and formation of the future harvest of winter crops. This was announced by the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food- Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
"Farmers try to use every sunny day of October to complete the field work in the optimal agronomic terms. Field work is conducted in two shifts. Thus, farmers have already harvested more than 41 million tons of grain. That is 13% more than last year. And this figure will continue to grow as corn is being harvested in rapid pace. There is more than 8 million tons of corn already harvested," - said the Minister.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has also added that the weather has been allowing accelerate seeding process of winter crops. As of today, farmers have already planted 4.4 million acres. In the nearest future weather is expected to remain good, therefore, farmers have an opportunity to complete seeding process within timeframe recommended by scientists.
"The experience of recent years shows that the later seeded crops can provide higher yields. It should be noted, that the soil is sufficiently moist. This allows us to get good germination and build the capacity of winter grain harvest for 2014. In addition, soil fertilization is increasing for next year's harvest. Today, farmers bought 130 tons of fertilizer more than in the past», - said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
Also, the head of the agency noted, that agrarians have all necessary mechanicals and lubricants in order to complete the complex autumn field work.
