U.S.: growing exports of ethanol may help support corn prices
According to analyst David Hightower, growing U.S. exports of ethanol may support prices for American corn.
In the current season (September-August) corn production, according to the USDA, will reach a record of 365.97 million tons. Expectation of high yields is causing pressure on prices, which are now at four- year low.
Low price of corn, the key raw material for ethanol production in the U.S., will help increase production and exports of ethanol. During September of the current year, U.S. exported 214.6 million liter of ethanol, which is 4% higher than during the same period in 2013, and by 9% on average for the past five years.
David Hightower also forecasts that, in addition to ethanol export, corn prices may cause increased demand from consumers of feed.
