Position of Ukrainian Corn On the UK Market Continues to Grow

Ukrainian corn continues to conquer British market.
Due to the poor harvest in the UK, Ukraine grew its corn exports to this country by almost a hundred times in one year, and now is holding position of the second largest exporter of corn to the United Kingdom. The gap from France – the leading supplier – is gradually decreasing. In the meanwhile, the absolute volume of British imports - and, accordingly, Ukrainian corn exports are also growing rapidly. Thus, in May the United Kingdom has contracted 110.2 thousand tons of corn for import, which is by 6.7% higher than April's purchase, and by as much as 55% than the figure in May of last season. Where, 513.9 thousand tons belong to France and 414.2 thousand tons - to Ukraine.
Given that in the next season UK is also expected to have a crop failure, while crop consumption in the country is growing, it can be assumed that British feeders will continue to increase imports of Ukrainian corn as a substitute for the local feed wheat, which was in short supply, and positions of Ukrainian exporters on the UK market will only strengthen.
Recall, that due to crop failure in the current season Britain is experiencing strong wheat shortage - from the beginning of the current season, the country has already purchased 2.68 million tons of imported feed wheat, compared to only 823 tons in the previous season. However, there is still not enough of grain, and feed mills in the country are forced to replace the missing ingredient with corn, by French and Ukrainian, on the first place.
