In general, forecast of wheat harvest is still much lower than last year, which is the major concern of the future harvest.
According to the National Agricultural Statistics Services in the United States Department of Agriculture (NASS USDA) on April 5, 5% of all area under the winter wheat in the USA is in excellent condition (5% a week before and 14% on the same date a year earlier), good- 31% (29% and 47%), satisfactory- 34% (36% and 29%), poor- 18%(20% and 7%), and very poor – 12% (10% and 3%).
MDA Cropcast Company has lowered its forecast for winter wheat yield in the U.S. to 1.79 billion bushels (48.8 million tons), by 37 million bushels, when compared with forecasts released a week earlier.
