The area of winter grain crops that did not rise decreased to 170 thousand hectares
According to an assessment of winter grain crops on February 12, shoots were obtained on an area of 7.8 million ha., which is 98% of the area sown.
According to the press-service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, 82% of raised crops, on an area of 6.4 million hectares, are in good and satisfactory condition, 18%, area of 1.4 million ha. — are weak and thinned. According to expert’s estimates, 2% of crops, on 170 thousand ha., (as of February 5 — 173 thousand ha., 3%) did not form shoots. Most of such areas are in Vinnitsa, Kirovograd and Luhansk regions.
In general, winter crops are mostly in good and satisfactory condition. Yet how they will survive through the winter will entirely depend on the temperature, presence and magnitude of the snow cover.
As reported, in Ukraine for 2015 harvest winter crops for grain and green fodder were planted on an area of 8.97 million ha., or 107% of the area planted for harvest in 2014. That is, winter crops planted on 8 million ha., including winter wheat- on 6.8 million ha., winter barley- on 1.1 million ha., rye — on 149.6 thousand ha., and winter rape — on 891.6 thousand ha.
