In 2012 China Increased the Import of Edible Oils- the Expert

China’s import market of edible oils was experiencing an upward trend in 2012. This was reported on April, 3 at the "Oilseed Industry: Trends and Prospects 2013" conference, by CEO of Sinopharm Fortune Way Company and Foreign Trade Department Chino Sinopharm International Corporation, Liu Lili.
“So, in 2012 the total volume of edible oils brought into the country was 8.39 million tons, against 8.39 million tons the year before”, - the expert said, adding that on average over the last 10 years, the annual increase of the given indicator in the country is around 5.6%. Liu Lyly also said that the increase in imports of edible oils in China is caused by growing consumption of these products in the country.
“Currently, the annual increase in consumption of edible oils in China is 7%," - the expert said.
As for import of sunflower oil from Ukraine, for the past three years there is some significant growth visible, according to Ms. Lili.
“In 2012 we purchased 105 thousand tons of sunflower oil, 91 thousand tons (87%) of which was Ukrainian product”,- the expert says.
In the meantime Ms.Lili added, that year earlier the share of Ukrainian sunflower oil of total Chinese import of the product was 83%, while in 2010- 17% only.
