In January Ukraine is growing its marine corn export, yet it has a long way to go to reach December figures

According to sources in Ukrainian ports, during period from January 1 to 13, 2014, marine export of corn from Ukraine was 732.5 thousand tons (as of January 7th — 483.9 thousand tons), which by 44.1% is less than in the same period of last month (1310.9 thousand tons). In addition, on the date specified there were orders for another 231.7 thousand tons of corn to be exported in the current month.

January’s largest buyers of Ukrainian crops were the Netherlands — 128 thousand tons, Israel — 901 thousand tons, Portugal — 66 thousand tons. Crops were processed thorough the ports of Uzhniy (388.7 thousand tons), Odessa (290.8 thousand tons), Illichevsk (48 thousand tons) and Renyiskyi (5 thousand tons).
In December 2013, marine corn shipments out of the country amounted to 2731.4 thousand tons, that is only 6.1% less than in November 2013 (2910.2 thousand tons). The most active buyers of the crops were Spain — 310.3 thousand tons, Egypt — 222.7 thousand tons, Netherlands — 214.1 thousand tons.
Since the beginning of 2013/14 MY (October-September), Ukraine exported abroad 7312 thousand tons of corn through waterway transport. The main export destinations were countries of EU- Spain already bought 798.9 thousand tons, Netherlands — 474 thousand tons, Portugal — 390.8 thousand tons. Egypt is buying a lot of Ukrainian corn in the current season it bought 748.5 thousand tons. In the current season the total export may reach 18 million tons.
