As of April 2, 2014, according to the operational data, in Ukraine sowing of spring crops was held on an area of 2 385 thousand hectares (April 1 — 2 331 thousand hectares). As of today barley was planted on 1 817 thousand hectares (84% of the area planned), peas — 182 thousand hectares (91%), wheat- 145 thousand hectares (88%) and oats — 231 thousand hectares (92%).

According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in Ukraine, for the harvest of 2014 season, there will be 2 784 thousand hectares planted with early grain and leguminous, corn — 5 156 thousand hectares, sunflower — 4 219 thousand hectares, sugar beet — 332 thousand hectares.
