The spring sowing campaign in Ukraine has been successfully completed
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukraine's sowing campaign has been successfully completed.
According to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Ukraine’s sowing campaign has been successfully completed. In Ukraine sowing of spring grains and leguminous was conducted on an area of 7.7 million hectares, while forecast was 8.07 million hectares (96%).
In particular, corn was planted on 4797 thousand hectares (97% of the forecast), buckwheat — on 140 thousand hectares (85%), millet — 96 thousand hectares (88%), rice — on 10 thousand hectares (42% taking into account the forecast of Crimea, where more than half of the acreage of grain is located).
Also, sunflower was sown on 4 764 thousand hectares (105% of the forecast). Soybean planted on 1 699 thousand hectares (101%)
As reported, in May of the current year the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has reduced its forecast for spring grain sowing down to 8 070 thousand hectares, including corn — up to 4 943 thousand hectares. At the same time the forecasted sowing area under sunflower was increased to 4 545 thousand hectares, soybean — to 1 677 hectares.
