In Ukraine, only agricultural sector demonstrates a positive GDP trend; that is, for the first 8 months of 2014, GDP has increased by 6%. This, according to the press service of the MEDT, was announced on October, 9 by Maxim Duda, the Deputy Director of the Department of Macroeconomic Forecasting at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.

According to Mr. Duda, in the second quarter of the current year Ukraine’s GDP, compared with the same period in 2013, decreased by 4.6%, and the only activity that demonstrates positive trend- agriculture.

Recall, at the end of the first half of 2014 Ukraine’s GDP amounted to $136.8 billion, down, compared with the beginning of the year, by $5.3 billion, or 3.7%. The World Bank predicts that in 2014 Ukraine’s GDP will be reduced by 8%.
