Forecast of Grain Production Has Increased Again
In the current year grain harvest will amount to more than 57 million tons, compared to 56 million tons forecasted earlier.
In the current year grain harvest will amount to more than 57 million tons, compared to 56 million tons forecasted earlier. Mykola Prysiazhniuk, the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food, has announced on August 1, according to the press service of Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
“The Southern regions of Ukraine have already finished harvesting early types of grain. In total, country’s farmers harvested 28 million tons of grain, harvesting 90% of fields seeded with winter grains. I’d also like to mention, that compared to the previous year, in the current year we were able to provide higher rate of harvesting. And, harvesting process will be completed in the shortest possible time”, - the minister said.
According to the minister, farmers have already collected 90% of the early wheat, 87% of barley and 80% of rye. As for grain yields, as of today it is 29.8 c/ha, and this is by 5 c/ha more than a year earlier. Mykola Prysiazhniuk has also noted that this will affect formation of cost for grain.
“Also, I’d like to announce expected volumes of grain shaft. This year, Ukraine plans to harvest more than 57 million tons of grain. The largest share of which will be corn- more than 28 million tons. As of today this type of grain is most export oriented”, − the minister said.
