India steadily increasing imports of vegetable oils
In February 2016, India imported 1.11 million tons vegetable oils (1.10 million tons of edible oil and 16.5 thousand tons not for human consumption) compared to 868.17 thousand tons in February 2015, reported processors Association of India's oil (Solvent Extractors' Association).
In just the first four months of the current season (November 2015-February 2016), India purchased 19% more vegetable oils compared to the same period last season (5.1 million tons against 4.3 million tons).
In February of this year, imports of soybean oil amounted to 380 thousand tons, sunflower - 87 thousand tons, palm - 603 thousand tons, and rape - 17 thousand tons.
The reserves of vegetable oils in the Indian ports fell to 0.91 million tons by the end of February (in December - 1.1 million tons.).
