As July comes to an end, we’ve prepared a roundup of key developments in Ukraine’s agricultural sector
Harvest Campaign
As of now, 3,236 thousand hectares have been harvested across Ukraine, yielding 10,347.2 thousand tonnes of early grain and leguminous crops. This accounts for 29% of the total area sown with these crops.
Among the leaders:
-
Odesa region – 884.5 thousand ha harvested, 2,501.4 thousand tonnes threshed
-
Kirovohrad region – 368.7 thousand ha harvested, 1,529.9 thousand tonnes threshed
2025 Harvest Forecast
Minister of Agrarian Policy Vitalii Koval forecasts that the grain harvest in 2025 may drop to 51 million tonnes (–10% compared to 2024), while the oilseed harvest may decrease to 20.16 million tonnes (–5%).
The reasons include unfavorable weather conditions, as well as military risks and field mine contamination.
Record Barley Exports to China
In July 2025, Ukraine has already shipped approximately 140,000 tonnes of barley to China, with an additional 350,000–400,000 tonnes expected in August.
Projected contracts for these months total around 770,000 tonnes, indicating strong demand from Chinese buyers.
Ukrainian Sea Corridor Surpasses 130 Million Tonnes
More than 130 million tonnes of grain and food products have been transported via port logistics, making a significant contribution to global food security.
