“Corn remains Ukraine’s main export crop. This is confirmed by the export results of 2013. That is, before the new year farmers supplied foreign markets with 9.5 million tons of corn of new harvest. This is more than 3 million tons higher than in the corresponding period of the previous marketing year” — the Minister noted.
According to Mykola Prysiazhniuk, after corn harvesting was completed the export accelerated. So, in November and December there was 3.6 million tons of the grain sold abroad.
“We must preserve high dynamics after the new year, as well. Indeed, overall, we are planning to export about 19-20 million tons of corn. This is a record for Ukraine, which will allow us to take 3rd place among global leading suppliers of this crop”, — said the Minister.
The Minister has also added that corn is highly demanded on the global markets. That’s why Ukraine is going to continue to expand its supply markets and search for the new ones in 2014.
