According to the official statistics, export of corn from Ukraine to China in January 2014 totaled 190.4 thousand tons, which exceeds the record of the past 10 years in November by 75% (109.1 thousand tons).
The share of China’s total export volume of Ukrainian corn in the reporting month rose to 8%, in comparison to 3% back in November 2013. In January, this put China among top five country-importers of Ukrainian corn. The leading importers of Ukrainian corn for the given period were Spain (381.1 thousand tons; 15%), the Netherlands (244.4 thousand tons; 10%), Portugal (235.8 thousand tons; 9%), and Egypt (196.8 thousand tons; 8%).
