Starting April 23, European Union unilaterally opened its markets to Ukrainian goods within the autonomous preferential trade regime between Ukraine and the EU.
The pertinent decision of European Parliament has been published on the official Journal of the EU on April 23.
According to the text of the document, “The Regulations come into full force on the day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union”.
The preferential trade regime provides for the reduction of customs duties for supplies of Ukrainian goods, as well as setting quotas for such supplies, which will allow domestic exporters to increase goods supplies to EU markets.
Beginning with the introduction of autonomous preferential trade regime, the rates of import duty in the EU are to be set at a level which should work in the first year after the introduction of free trade within the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The regime will operate until November 1 of this year, or until signing of the economic part of the Association Agreement of EU and Ukraine.
