In the new season Ukraine will produce 1.8 million tons of sugar – the Ministry of Agrarian Policy

In Ukraine, production of sugar made of beet of new harvest will amount to 1.8 million tons.

The given forecast is based on the actually sown areas and expected crop yield, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said.

Per specifications made by the Ministry, according to official information of national committee of statistics in Ukraine, sugar beet was planted on an area of 336.6 thousand hectares, which is 104.5% of region’s forecasts (322 thousand hectare) and 115.6% of 2013 harvest (292.6 thousand hectares).

Raw sugar yield is projected to be 420-450 c/ ha (in 2013 the yield was 397.4 c/ ha).

“In the current season there was 1.21 million tons of sugar produced from the sugar beet harvested in 2013, given carryover inventory at the beginning of 2013/2014 MY (892 thousand tons) allows to fully meet domestic demand (1 826 thousand tons) and create carryover stock at the beginning of 2014/2015 MY of 260-270 thousand tons, ” — was noted in them Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
