I. Harvest status of agricultural crops
Currently, area of 11.2 million hectares (75%) of grains and legumes has already been trashed, yielding 37.4 c/ha (in 2013 — 32.7 c/ha), total harvest amounts to 41.8 million tons of grains, including: corn — 5.6 million tons, buckwheat — 162 thousand tons, millet — 172 thousand tons.
The highest grain yields are in Khmelnitsky — 52.9 c /ha, Cherkassy — 50.9 c/ha, Chernivtsi— 50.1 c /ha and Vinnitsa — 49.2 c /ha areas.
7.1 million tons of sunflower was collected from an area of 4.0 million hectares (78% of the forecast), harvest of soybeans— 1.8 million tons from an area of 920 thousand hectares (51%).
Sugar beet has been harvested from an area of 104 thousand hectares (31% of the forecast), total harvest amounts to 4.5 million tons, with yield of 431 c/ha (in 2013 — 384 c/ha). There are 40 sugar plants working (in 2013 — only 7), which, since the beginning of the production, processed more than 2.6 million tons of sugar beet and produced 332.9 thousand tons of sugar.
II. Winter crops sowing process
Winter crops are planted on an area of 3.6 million hectares or 48% of the forecast (in 2013 — 2.4 million hectares), of which:
- winter wheat and triticale — 3.4 million hectares, or 54% of the forecast;
- rye — 93 thousand hectares, or 45% of the forecast;
- winter barley — 114 thousand hectares or 11%.
In addition, winter rape, with initial forecast of 859 thousand hectares, was seeded on an area 797 thousand hectares or 93% (in 2013— 803 thousand tons).
Reference: Winter grains are to be planted on the area of 7.5 million hectares (94.4 thousand hectares more than last year), including: wheat and triticale — 6.2 million hectares (+131.0 thousand hectares against last year’s), barley — 1.07 million hectares (-42.5 thousand hectares), rye — 206.5 thousand hectares (+5.9 thousand hectares).
III. Fertilizers
As of September 26, 2014, according to the regional operational data, including transitional balances available (excluding Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions) there are 555.4 thousand tons (82% of the application — 678.1 thousand tons) or 79% to last year’s performance.
Prices
As of September, 26 of the current year, ammonium nitrate is being sold by intermediary firms for 5500 UAH per ton or higher.
