Ukraine plans to increase its wheat and corn export by 44% and 34%, respectively

Ukraine is steadily increasing its presence on the global food market. Thus, this year the country will become world’s 2nd largest exporter, in terms of volume, of major crops - wheat, barley and corn. Agrarians' plans, however, are even more ambitious – by 2020 they want to grow their export volumes up to 41 million tons.

Agrarians' plans, however, are even more ambitious – by 2020 they want to grow their export volumes up to 41 million tons.
In particular, it is planned to increase the supply of wheat by 44%, and corn – by 34%. This was announced today at the Ukrainian Grain Congress IV by the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food- Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
«This year, the potential of the agricultural sector of Ukraine will allow us to become 2nd world’s largest exporter, after the U.S., of major crops - wheat, barley and corn. In the current marketing year, solely, there will be about 30 million tons of grain exported "- said the Minister.
Nevertheless, by 2020 it is planned to grow this export volume to 41 million tons. The increase of grain supply abroad will result from an increased export volume of wheat - 44%, and corn - 34%.
«Ukraine is steadily strengthening its presence on the global food market. Moreover, Ukraine, according to the forecasts of Food and Agriculture Organization of the U. N. FAO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, has all the prerequisites and opportunities to strengthen its already strong enough position",- per Mykola Prysiazhniuk .
Recall, since the beginning of the current marketing year, export of the Ukrainian grain (MY, July 2013 - June 2014) and, as of October 14 is 7.4 million tons, which is by 13% higher than it was on the same date of last MY.
in particular, export of wheat was almost 4.6, barley- 1.7 million tons, corn - about 1 million tons, and other crops - about 30 thousand tons.
The head of the department has also reported about the prospects of crop production. First of all, farmers will be able to harvest more due to higher yields. 
"Ukraine has some substantial reserves to increase yields. The President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, keeps this matter under his personal control. Reaching the 90% harvest level of the developed countries, and maintaining the areas will provide additional 30 million tons of production. It is not a task of one or couple years, but we are finding opportunities to improve public policy and stimulate significant growth in the future", - Mykola Prysiazhniuk noted.
in 2013, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, expects to harvest about 58 million tons of grain, compared to 46.2 million tons a year earlier, assessing its export possibility to more than 30 million tons.
