In the years to come, Ukraine will have world's highest percentage of agricultural production growth. This will enable it to increase its export capacities by more than half. European countries, as well as countries of Asia and Africa, are among buyers of the domestic agricultural goods. This was stated by the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food-Mykola Prysyazhnyuk at a meeting of regional Councils.
"Ukraine is actively expanding its geographic and product range of the goods exported. Thus, Ukraine is ranked first in the world for export of sunflower oil. In the current marketing year, the state will become second largest grain exporter in the world, coming right after the United States", - said the Minister.
Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has also noted that last year grain supply to EU countries grew by almost three times, amounting to more than 7.8 million tons. He also noted that after entrenching in traditional regions, the domestic agricultural goods are rapidly advancing onto prospective markets of South East Asia and Africa.
"In the current marketing year, we expect to increase supply of grain to China – to almost 5 million tons, and sunflower oil- to 350 thousand tons", - said the Minister.
The head of the department has also noted that with the support of the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, Ukraine is actively engaging in UN food programs. This indicates a high confidence level vested by the international community into quality of Ukrainian agricultural goods.
"For example, FAO of EU predicts that in the coming years Ukraine will have world's highest percentage of growth of agricultural production and, consequently, by 2020 agricultural exports will grow by 60 %", - concluded Prysyazhnyuk.
