Crop rotation — the practice of growing different crops on the same field from year to year. It keeps the soil from “getting tired” and lowers the risk of diseases.
Pesticides — products that protect plants from pests, weeds and diseases; they must be used with care.
Humus — the “living” part of the soil, rich in nutrients. The more humus in the soil, the more fertile it is.
Soil moisture supply — the amount of water in the soil that plants can use; a key factor in yield.
Seeding rate — the quantity of seed sown per hectare. It determines plant density and ultimately crop quality.
Desiccation — artificially drying down crops before harvest, usually by spraying special agents.
Seed treatment (dressing) — treating seed before sowing to protect it from diseases and pests.
