Ukraine will make it into world’s top three exporters of corn and forage - USDA

According to USDA’s forecasts, wheat harvest is expected to grow by 40%, to 22 million tons. According to this year index, Ukraine is at the ninth place in the world.  

During 2013/2014 marketing year, which begins on June 1, top grain exporters, including Ukraine, will demonstrate double-digit growth rates in production and export of food and feed wheat, as well as corn.

This forecast was made by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), informs Pro-Consulting financial and analytical group.
“In Ukraine corn production (+24%; 26 million tons) will go up by two points- from number eight to six; forage grains (+17%; 34,5 million tons) — by one (from eight to seven). This season Ukraine will make it into world’s top three exporters of corn and forage, while surpassing Argentine and Brazil”,- the report says.
USDA forecasts that world’s overall grain harvest in the current season will be much better than in the previous, when crops were affected by drought.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture expects 7-13% production growth of almost all major crops.
Ukraine, like other post-Soviet grain exporters- Russia and Kazakhstan, boasts by much greater dynamics. Even the abnormal snowfalls in March did not spoil the overall picture for Ukraine- its effect was offset by favorable weather conditions for planting and expansion of arable land.
