For comparison, the profitability of grain production is on average 43.2%, rape - 44.0%, soybean - 38.4%. At the same time, analysts predict that the gross harvest of sunflower seeds in Ukraine in 2016 will amount to 11.3 million tons, an increase of 1.3% compared to the previous season, with an expected average yield at the level of 20.6 c/ha.

This forecast gross harvest to date is preliminary and will be updated depending on the nature of the weather, which has now become a major factor in shaping the future of the crop. Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center notes sufficient for crop moisture in the soil, and, at the same time, a high probability of frost in late April, which may adversely affect the heat-loving plants, including sunflowers.

As of April 20, 2016 sunflower planted on 2 million hectares or 40% of the total projected area.
