As of January 21, 2014, sugar plants produced 1.209 million tons of sugar from newly harvested sugar beet. This was announced at National Association of Sugar Producers “Ukrtsukor”.
On the date stated, from the beginning of the season, there was 9.2 million tons of sugar beet delivered for further processing onto sugar factories, against 17.5 million tons on the same date in 2013. Currently, there is only 1 factory working within the country, while last year there were 2.
At “Ukrtsukor” believe, that sugar- mining season of 2013/14MY will end before February, 1.. According to forecasts of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, in the current season production of sugar will be 1.5 million tons (previous forecast was 1.4-1.25 million tons).
