Assumption of possible shortage in the current grain sowing campaign has no basis whatsoever. Spring field works are in normal phase and within determined timeframe. Thus, as of today early spring grains and legumes have already been planted on 86% of an area forecasted; that is, on an area of 2 385 thousand hectares.

Thus, as of today early spring grains and legumes have already been planted on 86% of an area forecasted; that is, on an area of 2 385 thousand hectares. Planting of corn has also been initiated, and held on an area of 12 thousand hectares; sugar beet was planted on an area of 201 thousand hectares — 60% of the forecast. This is according to Igor Shvaika, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, informs the press service of the agency.

The Minister has also assured that farmers are provided with seeds and fertilizers by more than 100%, and with crop protection products — by more than 90%.

As for sowing campaign in the Crimea, I. Shvaika said that in the last couple of days, there is practically no official statistics data coming in. Nevertheless, the agency keeps monitoring the situation, and it is known that the sowing campaign in the Crimea continues. That is, early spring grains and legumes have already been sowed on 60% of the targeted area.
