The European Union started purchasing duty-free wheat and barley from Ukraine
The European Commission, according to its decision approved on April 23 of the current year, approved the quota on import of Ukrainian grain and its products.
The European Commission, according to its decision approved on April 23 of the current year, approved the quota on import of Ukrainian grain and its products. Grain imports are carried at a zero rate of customs duty. The quota is valid through October 31, 2014. Given quota allows import of 950 thousand tons of soft wheat, 250 thousand tons of barley, 400 thousand tons of corn or processed products of these grains.
Since the beginning of the month and up until May 23, the European Commission, under the quota, approved import licenses for 16.281 ths.tons of Ukrainian soft wheat (or about 15% of the total soft wheat import approved for the EU during this period) and 315 tons of barley (or about 8% of the total barley import approved for the EU during this period).
