Ukraine harvested over 14 million tons of grains and 1 million tons of rapeseeds of new harvest
As of July 16, 2014, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Food and Policy of Ukraine, there was 4 582 thousand hectares of early grain and leguminous trashed, the new harvest amounts 14 030 thousand tons of grains.
In particular:
- barley has been trashed on an area of 1 682 thousand hectares, the harvest is 4 658 thousand tons;
- wheat has been trashed on an area of 2 791 thousand hectares, the harvest is 9 139 thousand tons;
- rye has been trashed on an area of 8 thousand hectares, the harvest is 18 thousand tons;
- peas have been trashed on an area of 95 thousand hectares, the harvest is 204 thousand tons;
- oats have been trashed on an area of 6 thousand hectares, the harvest is 9 thousand tons;
In addition, rapeseeds have been trashed on an area of 514 thousand ha, yielding 1 066 thousand tons.
In the Ministry of Agrarian Policy note that Odessa and Mykolaiv regions have already collected more than 2 million tons of grain, in Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions — more than 1 million tons.
According to the forecast of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in 2014 Ukrainian harvest area under early grain and leguminous will amount to 9.78 million hectares, including the area under wheat — 6.15 million ha, barley — 3.01 million ha, rye — 195 thousand ha, oats — 244 thousand ha, peas — 175 thousand hectares. Harvesting area under rapeseed is forecasted to be 914 thousand hectares.
