Ukrainian agrarians are finishing the sowing process of early spring crops and sugar beet

As of April 14, 2014, according to operational data, sowing of early spring grains and legumes has been completed on an area of 2520 thousand hectares (92% of the forecast); including: barley- 1920 thousand hectares (90%), peas- 188 thousand hectares (95%), wheat- 156 thousand hectares (95%) and oats- 246 thousand hectares (98%).

Farms in Nikolayev, Odessa, Kherson, Vinnytsia, Volyn, Chernihiv and Zakarpattya regions have already completed sowing of early spring crops.. There are early seedlings of early spring barley, wheat and oats.

Sugar beet sowing continues- there are 298 thousand hectares already sown, or 90% of the forecast. Farmers in Poltava region have already planted 35.8 thousand hectares, or 115% of the area previously projected, Khmelnitsky region- 44 thousand hectares (114%), Kirovohrad region- 15.3 thousand hectares (108%), Donetsk, Rivne, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions- 100% of the area projected. Farmers in regions like Kiev (93%), Cherkassy (92%), Vinnitsa (90%), Ternopil (88%) and Zhytomyr (87%) are also coming to the end of sowing process of sugar beet.

Sunflower planted on an area of 1005 thousand hectares, or 24% of the forecast.

The Sowing process of corn, with a forecast 5156 thousand hectares was held on an area 291 thousand hectares (6% of the forecast) and sowing of soybean, with a forecast 1616 thousand hectares was held on an area of 36 thousand hectares, or 2%.

Winter crops for grain have been fertilized on an area of 7609 thousand hectares, or 98 % of the forecast, besides winter rape was fertilized on an area of 917 thousand hectares (97%). Agricultural enterprises in 15 regions have completed first fertilization of their winter crops all throughout the area forecasted.
