The main food crop- wheat- was threshed on an area of 5.5 million hectares, yielding 21.5 million tons of grain.
Barley was threshed on 2.9 million hectares. The new harvest amounted 8.6 million tons.
Rye was gathered on an area of 151 thousand hectares.
In addition, rape was threshed on 845 thousand hectares, yielding — 2052 thousand tons of grain.
In Dnipropetrovs’k, Zaporizhje, Kherson and Kirovohrad regions harvesting process has been completed, while it is almost completed in Mykolaiv (99%), Kharkiv (98%) and Odessa (97%) regions.
Odessa region demonstrated the highest gross grain yield — 3.0 million tons, Kharkiv — 2.8 million tons and Dnipropetrovs’k — 2.4 million tons.
The situation continues to be complicated in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Harvesting pace, due to the fact that some areas are in the ATO zone, is lower than the average in the steppe zone, which already threshed 95% of the projected area. According to operational information, as of August 5, there was 529 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous threshed in the Donetsk region, in Luhansk — 235.4 thousand hectares; the harvest, respectively, is 1893.5 and 792.6 thousand tons of grain, 1400 thousand tons is wheat and 689.6 thousand tons.
Certain percentage of fields in these areas continues to be dangerous for harvesting, crops there overripe and flake. In addition, according to the operational data, number of combiners and machine operators were mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which also hinders harvesting process.
Qualitative indicators of grain.
According to the optimistic data of NAAS of Ukraine, due to increased temperature and spring fertilization of winter wheat winter wheat grain, especially in the steppe area, was formed of high quality. About 72%-75% of the grain, which was received at the certified storage facilities belong to the food group (grade 1-5), 60% of them — grains of 1-3 grade, 12% — 4-5 grade.
According to the operational date, however, the situation is central and western parts of the country is somewhat different, ratio of food and non-food grain of wheat, according to the pessimistic data is 45% by 55%, according to optimistic — 50% to 50%.
In the future, the quality of grains, especially in the western regions will depend on the weather conditions and the degree of plant contamination with various diseases (For the record: in the western regions up to 12% of the plants are affected by Fusarium, Septoria, powdery mildew).
Influence of weather conditions on the condition of the late crops
Hot weather without precipitation during last week was uncomfortable for the growth and development of late crops.
In the steppe area, lack of moisture on corn fields has accelerated drying of the functional leaves; some complications with grain filling arise.
If in the next 20 days there will be no rain, potential of corn yield will be significantly lower.
Sunflower crops are in phase of seed ripening, high temperature with sufficient supply of moisture in the soil does not have significant impact on the condition of crops.
Sugar beet continues to increase its growth, as well as intensive sugar content. The crop condition is mainly good and satisfactory.
