News list

In the current year Ukrainian Hydro- meteorological center forecasts gross grain and leguminous yields to be 63 million tons, which could be one of the highest during the years of Ukrainian independence. This, according to the UIIA, was announced during briefing by the director of Hydro- meteorological center, Mr. Nicholas Kulbida.

“Gross Ukrainian harvest of all major crops will be about 63 million tons. And, perhaps, during the next update of this forecast, we will add another 1-2 million tons. This may be one of the highest yields in Ukraine”, — said Mr. Kulbida.

In particular, agro-meteorologists estimate this year’s harvest of winter crops to be 26.7 million tons, spring barley — 5.3 million tons, spring wheat — 0.4 million tons, corn — 29.3 million tons, other crops — about 1.3 million tons.

Mr. Kulbida noted that this forecast includes harvest of Crimea as well, without which the expected yield should be reduced by 1.2 million tons.

In Ukrainian Hydro- meteorological center believe that such high yields are due to good weather conditions during winter and spring crop sowing campaign.

According to the State Statistics Service, in 2013 Ukrainian agrarians collected 62.9 million tons of grain, which is 36.3% more than in 2012.
