Over period between January and October 2013, production of agricultural goods in Ukraine has increased by 9.9%, compared to the same period in 2012.

«Traditionally, domestic agriculture remains one of the few industries with a tendency of positive growth. And, it is predicted, that in 2013 overall production of agricultural goods will grow by 9.3% compared with 2012. Such increase will result from highest grain yields in the country's history - about 60 million tons.  In addition, we have a positive trend in livestock production. Indeed, the profitability of this given area is gradually increasing as well. In the current year, it reached 12.4 %”, - said the head of the agricultural department Mykola Prysiazhniuk, quoted above.

This was stated by the Minister of Agricultural Policy and Food-Mykola Prysyazhnyuk at a meeting of regional Councils.

China: delays in wheat sowing

In China, according to market operators, while wheat sowing there are significant delays in the process due to dry weather conditions established in the key agricultural regions of the country. Thus, according to weather forecasts, rainfalls in China are not expected until at least October 20.
It must be mentioned that the Chinese government is trying to encourage local farmers not to reduce acreage under grain to less than it was last year. Thus, the minimum purchase price of wheat harvest of 2014 has increased by 5.4 % all throughout the country- to $390 per ton, which, however, is still below the current market price for the product.

China’s Corn Output is to Hit Record High

In 2013/14 marketing year, according to the CNGOIC, China's corn output is up 4.6% from a year ago, and will be 215 million tons. According to Chinese specialists, despite period of extreme weather conditions, corn has successfully endured all hardships and should have some good yields.  In the meantime, consumption of corn in China is 197.5 million tons.
